Ringwood were yet again slow to start, and were under pressure from the visitors directly from the start. But, totally against the run of play Ringwood took the lead, when Mike Carroll slotted home after some hesitation in the Lymington defence. The visitors continued to dominate the game and deservedly equalised on the stroke of half time, and really should have been in front.
In the second half Ringwood showed a lot more enthusiasm and took the lead after Tony Bellott wriggled free of his marker and placed his shot in the far corner on 55 minutes. But, yet again, the home side were at fault for some poor defending to allow the visitors to equalise. The game was then an end to end affair, and seemed to be heading for a draw, when Tony Bellott broke through the Lymington defence and score the winner. Ringwood defended well and did not allow the opposition any chance of getting back into the game. The home side were glad to hear the final whistle as they were forced to play a 55 minute second half. So Ringwood gained there first victory and there first points of the new season.
