Match report by Jim Edwards
Ringwood looked the best side in the opening ten minutes and went close with a James Finlay strike on the volley. Some slack defending allowed the visitors a free header on goal on 20 minutes, which Russell Goodman made a good save. Then on the half hour Finlay made the Alresford keeper work again with two decent strikes in 2 minutes. The first half ended with Ringwood having more possession, but few chances. As the players were walking off for half time James Finlay received a Red card from the referee for something he said.
Ringwood then started the second half with ten men and were dominant from the whistle. Within minutes of restart Alresford midfielder should have been sent off for swinging a punch at Matt Greaves, whilst he was on the ground, but inexplicably the offender escaped with just a Yellow. Then on 55 minutes Tony Bellott slotted home the equalizer with a cool finish. Ringwood were camped out in the opponents half for long spells, and had chances from Burrett and then Bellott, the latter which the keeper tipped round for a corner. Ringwood constantly made chances to take the lead mainly from sub Jason Hardy, but were being thwarted by good defending and bad finishing. Eventually Jason Hardy put the home ahead on 35 minutes after a good through ball from Matt Greaves. Ringwood then had more chances to increase their lead but failed to capitalize. While pressing Alresford the home side were undone with some poor defending allowing the visitors equalized on 82 minutes. Ringwood then showed their naivety, by not settling for a draw, and were caught when the opponents netted the winner in the final few minutes.
