Transfer Coup for RTFC
Double Signing puts Ringwood on the promotion path
Ringwood Town FC have announced two vital signings that will ensure the New Forest club push hard to return to the Wessex Premier League after a two year absence.
In what is easily the biggest signing in Division One, RTFC have captured the signature a former Salisbury centre-forward Stuart Brown from Premier Division champions Poole Town FC. Credited by many as playing a huge role in the rise of Charlie Austin, Brown had been a mainstay of the Poole Town side that won back to back championships. Brown, a good friend of Ringwood manager Wayne Lockey, has been struggling with a back injury but is looking forward to helping his new club move forward. "Stuart is a class act and will give central defenders in this league nightmares. With all of last season's squad signing and the addition of Stuart and Dan (Marks from New Milton Town) we have a squad that should be there or thereabouts come April," said a delighted Lockey.
Ringwood Town FC are also delighted to announce that main club sponsors, Canotec, have again agreed to support the club for the coming season. Printing solutions specialists Canotec lend their name to the home ground at Long Lane and have been the shirt sponsors for the past 4 years. Committee member Jy Taylor said of the deal; "Steve Weir (MD at Canotec) has been brilliant. He recognises that we are trying to build something special here at Ringwood and wants to support that. It's great to see that even in this hard economic climate, a local company like Canotec are willing to put something back into the community." Canotec are believed to have committed a significant four-figure sum to help Ringwood in their league title pursuit.
